Aiming to succeed in the Mobile Mail Revolution, emoze has designed its system to support all cellular and wireless networks, as well as a wide range of mail data sources and different types of mobile devices.
The emoze service can work behind a corporate firewall or on your home desktop without any modifications or settings.
emoze is comprised of the following architectural components (See Figure 1):
- emoze PC Connector
- Emoze Global Service Network (EGSN)
- emoze Mobile Client

emoze PC Connector
emoze PC Connector is a small application running in the background of any windows-based PC. It is optimized to work with Microsoft Exchange Server or any POP3/IMAP Mail Servers.
emoze PC Connector can be installed on a corporate or home PC, regardless of the type of network and security restrictions that are implemented on it.
The emoze PC Connector integrates with the MAPI component of the mail application on the PC. The PC Connector monitors the activities in the mailbox configured as the default profile of the mail application, and transfers all changes, compressed and encrypted, to the EGSN.
Data received by emoze PC Connector from the EGSN is written into the mailbox through the MAPI component insuring that all the changes made on the mobile device are updated in real-time.
Emoze Global Service Network (EGSN)
The Emoze Global Service Network is a globally accessible network infrastructure. EGSN makes it possible to manage connections to multiple carriers and networks, using a single PC Connector.
Code Division Access (CDMA) 1xRTT, General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (1xEV-DO) Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11) are all supported by EGSN, and all other available cellular and wireless networks as well as networks that will be available in the future.
The EGSN is responsible for the Registration and Authentication process, as well as to keep an always-on connection between the emoze PC Connector and the emoze Mobile Client.
The EGSN monitors the connection of multiple PC Connectors and Mobile Clients. It notifies both the PC Connector and the Mobile Client about the availability of the related peer, in order to enable a real-time synchronization.
The EGSN acts as a router between two connected peers. It does not store or decrypt the messages transferred through it. The messages remain in their encrypted form during the entire route until they reach the Mobile Client or the PC Connector.
Emoze Mobile Client
The emoze Mobile Client is extremely lean and sophisticated software that resides on the mobile device. It communicates with the EGSN in order to receive in-coming emails and authenticates decrypts and sends them onto the mobile device inbox. Working in the mobile device background, emoze utilize network performance The application does not slow-down the general operation of the mobile device or interferes with other device functionalities, such as placing a call or sending an SMS message
emoze Mobile Client operates Smart Communication Modes (SCM) to let the EGSN know whether the mobile device can receive mail at a particular time. |
