General

When I make changes on my handheld device, are the changes also made on my desktop email client as well?
Yes, the emoze software synchronizes with your desktop, so that all changes are updated and the information on your handheld and PC is the same.

Can emoze synchronize my contacts and calendar?
Yes. emoze can synchronize all of your Outlook folders including; Inbox, Calendar, Contacts, Drafts, Notes, Sent Items and Tasks.

Does my PC have to be running in order to use the emoze application?
Yes, in order for your handheld device to stay synchronized with your desktop computer, your PC must be turned on and the emoze desktop connector must be running.

Can I download and view attachments on my handheld device using emoze?
Yes, emoze can send you attachments to be viewed on your handheld. However, in order to receive larger attachments, the attachment setting have to be changed to allow for the downloads.
To do this, enter the emoze software on the device, click on Settings -> Rules -> attachment size.

How long does it take to synchronize my information?
The first time you synchronize your information with emoze it may take a couple of minutes.  However, all subsequent synchronizations will only take a few seconds and will occur automatically as long as emoze is running.

Is the size of attachments I can send from my device limited by emoze?
Currently you can send an attachment that is up to 1Mb, but in the near future we will be removing that restriction.

I pushed the send/receive button on my device. Why doesn’t anything happen?
emoze is a true push email solution, therefore your information on your PC and your handheld device are always up to date. The send/receive button will only work if you set emoze to sync on a specific time interval (ie: every 15 min).

Does my email client have to be open in order for emoze to work ?
If you are using a Microsoft Exchange server, you do not need to keep your email client open.
If you do not have an Exchange server, please keep your email client open, so emopze will work properly.

System Information

Can I use the sleep or hibernation function and still get my information?
No, when your computer is in the sleep or hibernation mode it is as if your computer is turned off and therefore the emoze desktop connector will be unable to connect to the server.

If my computer is left on how can I prevent other people from accessing my computer?
Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP has a built in system lock.
You can lock your computer by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del -> 'Lock Computer' option.  Another option is to set your computer to lock itself when the screen saver is activated.

Passwords

How do I change my password?
In the emoze desktop connector click on File -> Change Password
Type in your old password and then your new password and select apply.

What should I do if I forget my emoze password?
At the login screen, click on the 'Forgot your password?' link, then enter your username and email address and select the send button. Your password will be emailed to you.

Security

Is emoze able to read my emails and information?
No, each time information is sent from your desktop computer to your handheld device it is encrypted.  Only your PC and your device know the key to decrypt the information.

Is my information redirected to another server?
No, the server that is being used by emoze only informs your computer and your handheld device when they are online. The actual data is sent directly from your desktop computer to your handheld device.

OWA Faq – What is OWA?

How do I know if I have OWA?
OWA stands for Outlook Web Access – it is available on Exchange servers only.
If you have a different webmail account (such as yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) – these are not OWA.

If you are not sure, you can always ask your System administrator/IT dept. if the OWA is an option in your office.

Is any device compatible with the OWA (global gateway) solution?
No, only supported devices, running the full emoze application can use the emoze Global Gateway OWA option.

What is the difference between OWA & the PC Connector?
When using the PC Connector, you will need to have your PC "always on" i.e. connected to the Internet at all times, in order to get your email. Using the OWA option of the emoze Global Gateway, you do not need to leave your PC on, as the emoze Global Gateway connects over the Internet to your office's OWA interface and pushes your mail to your device.

How do I configure OWA on my mobile device?
You will need to enter the following information on your device for OWA to work:

  1. Your emoze username and password.
  2. Your OWA username, password and the OWA URL (the link you would usually use in your browser to access the OWA screen).

I'm currently using emoze via PC Connector; I'd like to switch to the OWA solution. What do I do?

For PPC:
On the device you will need to go in to settings/advanced and click on the "Reset Settings" button, approve the reset, and click on "ok" to restart emoze and then enter the OWA credentials.

You will be prompted with the following message:
PLEASE NOTE: resetting the operation mode will reset the emoze databases on the device. NO MAILS WILL BE DELETED, but the next synchronization stage may take a while, as emoze will need to rebuild its databases for the next synchronization with the Global Gateway option.

For Symbian devices:
Go to "Options/Settings/Advanced" and select "reset", approve the selection. Then click "back" and go to the "Login/OWA Credentials" menu, you will be prompted to switch to the OWA option, approve this, and  proceed to enter your OWA credentials.

My Current version of emoze doesn’t show the OWA option, do I need to upgrade?
Yes, emoze versions 1.3 build 42 and upwards support the emoze Global Gateway and its OWA option.
